Together with Refugees

Dear Friends,

At Together with Refugees we wanted to share our thanks for your support and solidarity following the attack on a hotel housing people seeking asylum in Knowsley on 10th February.

In response to the attack, Together with Refugees, in collaboration with IMIX, coordinated an open letter to leaders of all political parties from 180 organisations. Thanks indeed to everyone who responded so quickly to the call. By adding your names you have contributed to an important united message from civil society in condemnation of such a horrible attack. Also massive thanks to our friends at Hope Not Hate and organisations in Merseyside for advising on the sensitive situation on the ground. We continue to stand in solidarity with you.

We were very pleased that the open letter generated more than 270 pieces of media coverage with articles in a strong mix of national newspapers including The Times, Daily Mail, Evening Standard, Guardian and Independent. Spokespeople were also interviewed on LBC News, LBC Sheila Fogarty, BBC Sunday Morning Live and Sky News Radio. Coverage in the Merseyside region included BBC Radio Merseyside, Liverpool Echo, Warrington Guardian, Wirral Globe and St Helen’s Star.

We also received this immediate response from Ed Davey MP (Liberal Democrat leader) and Twitter support from the Green Party. We have reached out to the Prime Minister and other party leaders for their response.

We continue to be vigilant in the face of more such racist attacks organised by the far right and send solidarity to those working on the front line.

Thank you again for your support and if your organisation is not already a member, please do consider joining the Together with Refugees coalition (sign up here).

In friendship,

Together With Refugees
