Samba.....Glee......black rocks....Derbyvision. All in a day's work at DRS!

Thursday 4th May

It’s a full-time job doing DRS’s social media and website. There’s always SO MUCH going on!

While 50 or so volunteers had English lessons indoors, all the children and parents and musicians went off to our nearby park for a spot of samba drumming. Several of our neighbours came out to enjoy the music!

Then as lessons came to an end and volunteers started to return from the park, some spontaneous singing and drumming began. “It’s just like Glee,” commented Taran!

Meanwhile, in another part of Derbyshire, volunteers were enjoying themselves in nature. As Sue wrote, “What a fabulous day. Blue skies and sunshine, wonderful views, art, history, geography, craftsmanship, physical activity (some were like young gazelles up those rocks), a nice lunch, wild garlic - and discounted ice cream! And we mustn't forget the friendly folk along the way.”

Evening falls, but the music and fun is just beginning because it’s DERBY|VISION - Derby’s answer to Eurovision!

Our very own Dlivan reached the finals of this event and performed his own song to a very receptive audience! He didn’t win - but he definitely won a few hearts!
