Thanks to Foundation Derbyshire!

In our journey from being a small grassroots collection of individuals who wanted to do something to help refugees, to where we are now, a Registered Charity with 50 to 60 regular volunteers, we have been considerably helped by an organisation called Foundation Derbyshire.

In their own words, Foundation Derbyshire are, “ Proud to be investing in their local communities, our donors use the Foundation’s local knowledge to support the issues that they care about and reach groups and projects that so desperately need their help.”

In both 2018 and 2019, Foundation Derby awarded grants to DRS that have enabled us to grow and flourish! They have helped us to secure our rent, which in turn has enabled us to develop into a kind of Community Hub, offering many different activities for asylum seeker and refugee volunteers as well as local people. These include English sessions, Music, Yoga, Art, D.I.Y and sewing.

Now the organisation have awarded us £677 to provide PPE for our volunteers so that we can return safely in the coming weeks.

Huge thanks to everyone who made this happen!
