"I gain much more than I give...."

“Now I’m back from my gallivanting across the world i spend a couple of mornings a week at a wonderful charity in Derby. DRS. Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity. Everyone who attends is a volunteer. People seeking asylum, those with refugee or humanitarian protection status, local residents, everyone. We all muck in to try to make life just a bit better for us all. English is learned, conversations are translated, music is made, bikes are fixed and lent, clothes are mended, donated and given to those in need, food, flowers and vegetables are grown, friendships are made, laughter and sadness is shared, food and drink is brought and shared, bureaucracy is navigated, homelessness is challenged, funds are raised, and that’s just for starters All life is here. I absolutely love my time here . I meet so many wonderful, resourceful, hilarious , kind, appreciative and grateful people, many of whom have endured and experienced unimaginable horrors before they fled their homes, and along the way. I gain much more than I give. Thanks DRS xx
— feeling blessed.”
