DRS has fun in Derbyshire’s Peak District!

Early in the morning of Sunday, 22nd June, sixty (yes- sixty!) DRS volunteers gathered in excitement before setting off, by coach or car, to the picturesque village of Hartington where we would begin our annual circular hike. On arrival at 11.00am, packed lunches were handed out (many were immediately eaten!) before we climbed the steps to the track that would take us into the heart of the Derbyshire countryside.

We chatted happily as we walked across fields, tackled the hillsides and strolled along the banks of the River Dove. On reaching Hartington village, we relaxed by the ‘Well’ as we ate our delicious ice-creams. The British weather threw both the heaviest of rain and bright, warm sunshine at us – but we all remained delighted to be together for the day, enjoying the beautiful British countryside.

Thanks to every one of our wonderful volunteers, who always fill us with fun and laughter. Thanks to the Peak District Foundation, Morrison’s Supermarket and Hartington Village Store: each of these organisations kindly contributed to making this event so very special and memorable.
