DRS to receive £7000 from National Lottery for English classes!

VERY exciting news from Charlie!

"About a month ago we submitted a bid to the National Lottery COVID-19 Fund for monies to help us further develop English learning opportunities using both electronic and paper based resources during these Covid times. These will also be available to enhance our delivery of English when DRS returns to normality.

Last week The National Lottery emailed to inform us:“We’re pleased to tell you that we want to give Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity English Support £7000 to help your community.”

We are planning to share further detail about the proposed plans and expenditure described in our bid in due course but we just wanted to share this great news with you first!"

Also during this second lockdown we have been able to make the following donations, thanks to the huge generosity of our supporters!

  • £1000 has now been donated by DRS to Donate4Refugees. Because this was during their match funding week, the donation was doubled!

  • The £300 raised by Lucy Renshaw has been donated via Donate4refugees to "Finding Refuge in Athens." They provide accommodation and activities/education for 40-60 otherwise homeless people – mostly women and children. This was also match funded.

  • DRS donated £400 for a pallet of food to go to Syria via the Muslims in Need charity

  • DRS will be donating sacks of clothes to go to Yemen via the Muslims in Need charity

All welcome!
