Silent Auction Update

This is a new venture for DRS and how happy are we with the response! We now have over 50 works of art pledged for the auction (and exhibition) and we have been busy receiving and collecting them. It is going to be hard to part with such a wonderful collection when the time comes!

A huge thank you to all who have helped make this possible and for the generosity, interest, compassion and kindness of our artist friends of DRS. Apart from the fees charged by the host site (very competitive and worth it because they deal with admin and payment) every penny of the money raised will go directly to supporting refugees and asylum seekers. (DRS has no paid staff).

The nightmare of Ukraine was not on the horizon when we started this fundraising event. It has proved to be another horror story to add to those we already encountered. The world is a cruel place for so many, but there are clearly people within our communities who care enough to help make a difference. A huge thank you to all of you who support our work and help to give something positive to people who have lost so much.

Watch this space!

This unassuming little painting was chosen (much to the surprise of the artist, Raj Sahota) as the image to represent the auction. A little boat in a big sea with a sail that looks like a candle flame, a symbol of hope. And we certainly hope.
