A Very Special Walk in the Peak District

In the wonderful warmth of the sun, on Sunday, 11th September, 43 DRS volunteers walked, talked, laughed, splashed about and shared picnics, in the beautiful landscape of the Peak District. The joyful spirit of DRS was at its very best: We strolled across grassland; squeezed through stiles; attempted to clamber – or even jump - over sturdy fences; scrambled up stony hills; shared stories and conversations; splashed across stepping stones; sipped cooling water from the River Dove; sat on grassy slopes and in rocky caves, to rest and eat picnics; staggered to the top of  steeper slopes; stroked the noses of friendly donkeys; surprised casual walkers; sang and hummed along to the sounds of someone’s music!!

Oh, and we smiled. We smiled at the joy of the countryside and the company of dear friends.

A truly lovely day: Thanks, to all who came and supported our ‘Walk in the Peak District’.
