Making a difference

We are delighted to announce that two men who we know well have reached the final of BBC Radio Derby Make a Difference Awards 2023!!

Biniam (see photo) has been nominated for the "Volunteer" Award and Issa (too shy) for the "Together" Award. The final takes place in September.

Both men not only give up almost all their free time to volunteer in many different organisations and contexts, they also inspire others to do so. Both men volunteer in charity shops, community gardens, DRS and other charities and help individuals too.

Both men show the wider community that asylum seekers WANT to integrate, want to work hard and want to show that they more than deserve a place in our society.
