A Wonderful Sunday Hike, in Derbyshire’s Peak District!
Whilst lots of folk were still sleeping in their beds, our volunteer friends were meeting at our DRS home. The buzz of excitement accelerated as we left the city and drove through rich, green countryside, to the Peak District village of Hartington. There, we met even more of our friends - and Pete Bush and Yvonne Witter also joined us. Pete and Yvonne work with ‘Peak District Communities and Well Being’ and ‘Peak District Mosaic and Arts’; their expertise (and their great company) enriched our awareness of the countryside through which we walked.
There are so many memorable moments from our special day: mountain climbing; sliding down mountains on our bottoms; losing control when attempting to walk down mountains; posing for our celebrity social media; making rain-proof dens in the caves; calling for our dogs …And can anyone tell me, ‘Where is Turki??’
At the end of our day, we celebrated with scoops of delicious ice-cream at the ‘Hartington Village Shop’, before our sleepy journey home.
Dear thanks to everyone who joined our wonderful walk, and who helped to make it memorable.
With love, Vanessa
